H.W.L. Poonja (Papaji)
"Who
Papaji is, in reality, is who you are. This recognition was his
promise to me. He delivers that promise continually, deepening with
every moment, and he uses this form, Gangaji, to offer that promise
to you. The offering is to know who you are, to recognize who you
already are.
By
some mystery, Papaji awoke at a very young age to the truth
of who he is. By an even deeper mystery, he was brought to
the feet of his guru, Ramana, so that the deeper revelation
of the truth of who he is could be confirmed and could continue
endlessly." - Gangaji

Ramana
Maharshi
"As
a boy of sixteen Ramana had a profound premonition of death. Rather
than run from this experience, he simply chose to investigate death,
to actually lie on the floor and ask the question, 'Who is it that
dies?' He was not looking for solace, or an easy answer, or comfort
of any kind. He was looking only for the truth. Because his intent
was pure, and his investigation sincere, he awakened to the very
truth of his being—a huge awakening.
Later,
he was named Ramana by those who began to be attracted to
him, to drink from his awakening, and to awaken through his
grace.
One
of those was my guru, H.W.L. Poonja (Papaji), an ex-military
officer from the Punjab who demanded of Ramana that he give
him all he had.

Papaji asked him, "Can you show me God?"
Ramana
answered, "I can only show you who you are. Gods come
and go. Who you are is eternal."

In
that moment, what Papaji had glimpsed when he was a young
boy was reconfirmed.
When
I found myself at Papaji’s door, I found myself surrendering to
a huge force of nature, which revealed that same force coursing
through me. I was delighted to fall prostrate at his feet, to kiss
the dust of his feet, to ask if I could just sit outside his door
for the rest of my life and sweep. But he saw what kind of a housekeeper
I am and declined that offer. So I asked him to use me however he
wanted, without having any idea of any limitation or restriction
or condition. He chose to use me to meet with you.
In
my meeting Papaji, and in my accepting him, he introduced me to
his guru, Ramana. Papaji told me that the name, Ramana, means "that
which abides in the heart of all being." Not something that
abides in an Indian form or an American form, in an eastern country
or a western country, in the past or the future or even the present.
That which abides in the core of all being means all time, all space,
all realization.
Self-investigation
is the living invitation offered through the power and grace
of Ramana, through Papaji, and directly to you. As you have
met me, and as you have accepted me, you meet my guru, Papaji.
If you listen to me and investigate what I say, neither accepting
it nor rejecting it, you will hear him. If you hear him, you
will see Ramana. And Ramana is who you are.

My
teacher’s message to you is: "Stop," "Just
be still." When the mind comes to rest, there is no mind.
There is transparency. There is no obstruction or veil between
you and your Self.
To
stop telling the lie of who you think you are is death. The same
death that Ramana met as a sixteen-year-old boy. This meeting with
death, which took place in a house in South India in 1896, is the
gift of Ramana, and the gift of my teacher, to you. In truth, it
is the gift of your own heart to yourself, the gift of the satguru,
the true guru, the huge, undeniable force that is who you are.
This
force does not belong to you or Gangaji or Papaji or even to Ramana.
It is not owned by anyone, nor is it separate from anyone. To recognize
that force, to celebrate that force, and ultimately, to offer one’s
whole life to that force is the teaching of the satguru—the true
teacher that dwells in the heart of all being."
